Sunday The 22 June Fundamentals
Tonight we started with the Roll over Drill
1:Here we were sitting on the mat with our elbows and knees touching (In a ball)Looking over our right shoulder,and tilting our head to the left we would rollover our right shoulder until our right foot touched the mat.We would then push back with this foot back to our original position.We would repeat this agian only the opposite side.Look over our left shoulder, and tilt the head right and rollover our left shoulder and push off with the left foot to the original sitting position.We would repeat this over and over.
2:The next Drill was the same again only this time we would rollover onto our knees and scoot back to where were were.We did this for left and right over and over.
3:Basic sweep-Here we had our partner in our guard, and they came up onto their left leg(positioning it at about 7:00) to try and pass.We had our right arm in their collar and our left arm controlling their right arm.We then uncrossed our locked legs, and using their left leg as a pivot against our right leg, we would hip out as far as possble to the right.We would then slide our right leg through so that our right shin was touching their stomach.We would then stretch ourselves forward in a straight line pulling them off balance,so that all their weight came off their legs.We would then scissor our legs making them fall to the left and following them over to mount.
4:Hooking sweep-Here we had our partners in the same postion as the Basic sweep,only this time they had placed their left leg at about 9:00 instead of 7:00.Using the same grips as Basic sweep,we would then lock our right leg and use their left leg as a pivot and hip out to the right again.This time we would try and kick ourselves in the butt with our right leg to create space and place our right foot under their left knee (Called a hook).From here we would pull them forward again, and lift our right foot up as we did this,causing them to fall to the left, following them over to mount again.
5:Back Sweep-This time our partner would stand up in our guard and beacuse our legs were still locked it would cause us to be lifted as well with only our shoulders on the ground touching the mat.We would then unlock our legs causing us to drop our butts to the mat.squeezing our knees together and grabbing both of their ankles with our hands we would do 2 things at one(Push them back with our kness and pull their ankles forward) sitting them on their butts.From here we would sit up and post on our right hands,and grab thier left Lapel with out left hand.Coming around using short little posts with our right hand, it would bring us to the mount position again.
6:Front sweep-This time again our partner has stood up in our guard but is leaning forward.We would then placed our feet in their hips(Toes turned out) and control both their sleeves with our hands.We then pushed them back to initiate a forward reaction from them, lifting them up over us(Knees slighty bent).From here we would tilt our head to the right and as Geoff likes to call it(Look into their ears for any Wax) and roll over our right shoulder, causing them to roll over.We would then follow them over with our feet still in their hips stretching them out following them over to mount.
7:Hook and Reap Drill-We quickly finished off with the Hook and Reap Drill which Jase has just posted recently
