Thursday the 14th of August Fundamentals

Tonight we started with a drill of our partner kneeling on our hooks,we would lie on our backs, come up and get double underhooks, roll onto our back again and lift them up,come upgain and place them back down on the mat over and over.Point to note about being to far away:Scoot your butt in.

Same position as number one drill only this time they would grab out Gi pants at the knees. We would grip there right cuff with both hands ,lauch backto pull them forward past our right side.As an automatic reaction they would place there hands on the mat in order to avoid a face plant. We then used our left hand to grab under their left Lat.

Same start as postion 1 and 2 only this time instead of grabbing our Gi pants at the knee they would grab down at the ankle level. We would still grab at the cuff, but this time we would take our left leg out and kick it out to the back of the room as well as pull them forward like drill 2.We would then grab the Lat again

Same as drill 2 only this time we would leave our right hook in,take our left hook out and swing it over to take their back.Grab their  left forearm with our left hand and pull forward to crush them down.

Here we have our partner in guard, and they have gone to pass  by taking their left arm out to swing  our  right hip under their left shoulder. We still have control and firm grips on their right arm.We swing our right leg and chop it over the back of their neck,we then swung our left leg over the right trying to get the back of  the knee over our right shin.If we had difficulty doing this we would try to grab the right leg above the ankle with our left hand.We then pulled their right arm towards our right side and bridged up waiting for the Tap from our partner. This is known as the Triangle from guard. Point to note.It is dangerous to grab the foot and not above the ankle as mentioned above.

Here we ran through drill 2 again only this time when we swung our left arm over their left lat, they would posture up and back away.We would just use our right hand to post on the mat and follow them
