Sunday the 2nd of November Fundamentals

Tonight we started with the Basic Guard Pass:We are in our partners closed guard and we we postured back(to put pressure on their ankles). With good grips on our partners gi jacket with both hands(in the centre of their chest). We stood up on our left leg keeping it well back and out of reach of our partner(If our partners head is at 12:00 try to imagine our leg at 7:30),and the right knee is in the centre of their spine. We then did 2 things simultaneously(1)Pushed their right knee with our left hand(2)sucked our right arm back to our right leg(As Geoff says either 2 arms in or 2 arms out). As their legs opened up we hooked their right knee under our left shoulder. We then drove their right knee into their face and walked around to the right hand side(keeping the pressure on at all times to make it uncomfortable)Coming around to side control We switched base so that our  left lat was on their face. From here we grabbed their left leg, pulled it down, swung our right leg over to mount.

Starting in guard again our partner passed our guard(explained in drill 1) but this time when they came around to side control we had our arms up on our chest so they landed on them.We then pushed  them down with our forearms so they were touching our thighs. We bumped up,and swung our body around 90 degrees and swung our right leg through bringing them back into guard. They would pass again, and we would continue over and over.

Here we had long base side control(Legs stretched out) and were resting on our partners forearms driving into them and dropping our hips down.We then walked around 90 degrees to north/south keeeping the pressure on by keeping our hips down. When we got to north/south we brought our knees in so they were squashing their face.Stretching out again we came around a further 90 degrees, switched base so our right lat was on their face, grabbed their right leg, swung our left leg over to mount. We then placed our right lat over their head, dismounted to side control, came around to north/south,back 90 degrees to side control mounted, dismounted etc

We had mount and we resting on our partners forearms(keeping low and sprawled). They would buck and bridge forward, left and right. We would have to ride it out and keep control. The main point being to keep low and tuck your feet under their legs for control.

A:Same postion as drill 4 but as our partner gave one big buck to either the left or right side,we would come to side mount. From here we would give them some space,so they would come to their knees. We put our hooks in,and placed our left hand under their left arm to grab the forearm.Pulling their forearm back, and thrusting forward we squashed them down to the mat.
