Thursday the 13th of November Fundamentals
Last night we started off with a warm-up.Our partner was in our guard sitting back on their heels.Their aim was to stay upright, and our aim was to break it down and pull our legs forward, and pull them in close to us so as they would vertually headbutt the mat. They then started to get grips on our Lapel. As soon as this happened we would try to break the grip and pull them forward to get them close and low.
This next drill we had our feet in their hips, and our right hand was grabbing their collar, and left hand grabbing their right sleeve. They would move forward and back, left and right. We would wait for them to drive forward. As soon as this happened we simultaneously placed their right arm over the right side of our body, and kicked our right shin into the back of their left armpit sweeping them over.
Same setup as drill 2(Securing their right arm into the centre of our chest).Coming around 90 degree’s by kicking our right leg over their back, and swinging our left leg over their neck(making sure our left calf muscle was cutting ino the back of their neck). The whole point was to trap their left arm between our legs.We then squeezed our knees together, and bridged up for the armbar.-A point to note here was to keep our hips flat.
A:Here was a variation on drill 3 where we would have the armbar setup but were slightly to far away.We grabbed their left gi pant or ankle, pull that up into the air,and pull our ankles down to sweep them over onto their back.We then scooted in squeezed our knees together, welded their little finger into the centre of our chest, and layed back for the armber.
Feet were in hips, and we had the collar pulling them forward, but we pulled them forward to far to the right side,so there was no space. We would swing our left leg over to take their back.
Same setup as drill 2 again(Feet in hips, right arm in collar),only this time we pushed our right arm back in their collar to create space. We then pushed our left hand under our right arm to the opposite side of their collar, and tried to get our hands touching each other,or as close as possible so they we around their neck.We then turnd our wrists in so our thumbs were blading on their neck for the choke. If they didn’t tap to that we pulled our elbows down to create more pressure.
Feet in hips and right hand in collar again. We pushed their left arm away, brought our right leg up and bladed across the back of their neck.We then swung our left leg over our right ankle(so the knee was over the ankle, taking away all space in the gap).Grabbing their right arm and bringing it over to the right hand side of our body,we bridged our hips for the Triangle.
A:Same setup as drill 6 but in going for the Triangle, they sat back on their heels making it difficult for us to lock on the Triangle.Instead of bringing their right arm all the way across our body,we brought it into the centre of our chest(Little finger welded into the centre). We then bridged up and went for the cutting armbar.
Feet in hips, right hand in collar but this time our partner would pull back ,making it difficult to pull them forward. We posted on our left hand, swung our legs back to sit on our knees, keeping the pressure on,and pulling down on their collar
