Sunday the 5th of July Fundamentals
1:Tonight we started with being in our partners Side control,with our hands up protecting our neck.We would then use our forearms to push on our partners ribs,until they touched our thighs.Bumping them up,we then brought our right knee through,and spun around 90 degree’s to face our partner,putting them in guard.We then went to the opposite side and did the same drill,alternating from both sides.
2:Here we had our feet in our partners hips and we had control of their wrist,or gi cuffs.We had 3 choices(1) Turn on right hip and put our knee across their belly, pull them forward for the sweep (2) They stand up and put 1 leg forward we would grab the leg,push the opposite hip back and put them on their butt(3)They came up onto 1 knee so we put out foot under that knee for the hook,pull their arms forward,and lift up that same knee for the hooking sweep.
3:Head to head this time ( Geoff explained that we should be relaxed,and our aim is that we are either playing guard, and our partner’s is to pass our guard).This time our partner put their right foot in the middle between our legs.Our right hand snuck down and grabbed their right foot,and our left hand grabbed over their right shoulder and grabbed their back(preferably the belt).We dropped our left elbow,and drove our head into their neck,and pulled their right foot to our right.This swept our partner onto their back,and we took side control.
4:Head to Head again but this time our partner reached over our left shoulder with their right hand,and grabbed our belt.We moved off line to our left,and duck our head under their arm to duck our the side to take their back.
5:This time we went for drill 4 but as we moved off line to our left,our partner dropped their arm so our head ended up getting stuck.With our right hand we grabbed their left knee,pulled that towards us,and drove our head into their neck,driving them sideways,and taking side control.
6:Again we went for drill 4 and our head ended up getting stuck again(Just like drill 5).Our partner sensed this and tried turning to their right to put us in their guard.We again drove them to the side with our head,pushed their right knee down with our right hand,and jumped over to clear their right leg, to secure side control.
7:Head to Head again.Our right hand goes into the side of their right collar,and our left hand gripped their right sleeve.We came up onto our left foot and placed it on the outside of their right knee.Pushing our right hand back,and around towards us,and pulling their right arm towards us,we swept them over our left leg to knee ride.
8:Head to Head.We had T-Rex arms,Short neck,and gorilla back.Our prater would extend their right hand towards us.As they grabbed us,we grabbed their right gi cuff with our left hand,and our right hand grabbed their right knee,and drove our head into the left hand side of their neck,and drove them sideways onto their back.
